About the Event
Ameliasburgh Branch Library:
From the Library to the Cemetery: A Talk and a Walk
Poet Phil Hall will talk about his work, including his new book, Vallejo's Marrow, and will read especially from his long poem about Al Purdy called "An Oak Hunch." This will be followed by a group walk to Al Purdy's grave in the Ameliasburgh Cemetery, and back to the Library, weather and mobility factors permitting.
Friday, April 19 at 11:00 a.m.
Picton Branch Library:
From Prose to Music · A Methods Workshop
Poets are invited to submit two poems each in advance. The workshop will focus on ways to move your poetry away from prose toward a more musical sense of line, etc. Time, syntax, meaning, chronology, accuracy, punctuation and other elements will be considered while we read each others' poems and think about their methods.
The group will workshop one poem for each participant. For the second submitted poem,
Phil will give back with written notes, suggested authors' poems & books, etc.
